Bank UOB Indonesia is one of the providers of financial services in Indonesia. This bank was first established since August 31, 1956 under the name PT Bank Buana Indonesia. In 1972 the company then acquired one of the banks in Bandung, namely PT Bank Pembinaan Nasional. Two years later, the company re-acquired one of the Semarang-based banks called PT Bank Kesejahteraan Masyarakat and also began to acquire PT Bank Aman Makmur-Jakarta the following year. The development of this bank is increasingly rapid so that since 1976 the bank then obtained a license as a Foreign Exchange Bank. In addition, the company officially changed its status as a public company along with the successful listing of shares on the Jakarta and Surabaya Stock Exchanges through an initial public offering since 2000.
The company's growth can finally attract the attention of foreign companies namely the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to invest its shares in the company through limited public offering II. The second largest shareholder entry after PT Sari Dasa Karsa namely UOB International Investment Private Limited (UOBII) in 2004 further strengthened the company's position. Along with the release of IFC in the ranks of the company's shareholders, UOBII has become the majority shareholder of the company at 61.11% since 2005. In 2007, United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB) entered into the company's major shareholder. This caused the company to officially change its name from PT Bank Buana Indonesia Tbk to PT Bank UOB Buana Tbk.
In 2008, the company decided to change its status to become a closed company in accordance with the decision at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders. With this, UOBII's share ownership in the company increased to 98.997% in line with the delisting of delisting on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Since 2010 PT Bank UOB Indonesia merged with PT Bank UOB Buana so that the bank changed its name to PT Bank UOB Indonesia which began to be used since 2011 until now. This bank is focused on retail customer services, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are able to survive in any economic conditions. With the vision of the bank "to become a leading bank in Indonesia, committed to providing quality products and providing the best service", this bank has served its customers through a network of servants that have spread across Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. With the aim of becoming "The Premier Banking in Indonesia" Bank UOB Indonesia continues to develop in information technology systems, capital structures and human resources to create long-term sustainable value for shareholders.
